Xiaomi EV Delivers 25,000 Vehicles in June as YU7 SUV Demand Surges

Xiaomi’s electric vehicle arm has reported over 25,000 EV deliveries in June, marking its ninth straight month of exceeding 20,000 units. The update comes as demand soars for the new YU7 electric SUV, with Xiaomi ramping up production and preparing to expand factory operations in response to growing wait times.

YU7 SUV launch fuels overwhelming consumer demand

The newly launched Xiaomi YU7 SUV, unveiled on June 26, has quickly become a standout in the company’s lineup. Positioned as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y, the YU7 received 200,000 firm orders within just three minutes and surpassed 240,000 locked-in orders within 18 hours. 

Customers can place a non-refundable deposit of RMB 20,000 ($2,790) for the YU7, with initial deliveries expected within 1–5 weeks. However, soaring demand has led to steep delivery wait times for the recently unveiled all-electric crossover. According to CNEV Post, YU7 wait times are estimated at 57–60 weeks for the entry-level YU7 Standard, 50–53 weeks for the YU7 Pro, and 37–40 weeks for the flagship YU7 Max.

Production ramp-up underway to address long wait times

To meet surging demand, Xiaomi is accelerating output at its existing facilities and preparing Phase 2 of its EV factory for production. According to reports, the second phase of construction is expected to be completed by mid-June, with production kicking off between July and August. 

For now, Xiaomi continues to build momentum from its SU7 electric sedan, including the high-powered SU7 Ultra, which was introduced earlier this year. Despite June’s delivery numbers being slightly lower than May’s 28,000+ figure, Xiaomi’s electric vehicle unit continues to post steady growth.
