BYD’s premium brand Denza has unveiled its first all-electric supercar, the Denza Z, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom.

The high-performance EV marks the first Chinese electric supercar to debut in the European market and will be offered in three variants, with UK pre-orders opening in October ahead of deliveries expected by the end of the year.

Denza targets Europe’s performance car market

The Denza Z will be offered in three configurations: the Coupe, the Spider convertible, and the track-focused Racing model.

UK pricing starts at £142,900 ($191,310) for the Coupe, rises to £159,900 for the Spider, and reaches £172,900 for the Racing version, according to CNEV Post.

Chinese customers will be able to place pre-orders beginning July 13, with the official market launch scheduled for the fourth quarter.

Designed by renowned automotive designer Wolfgang Egger, whose previous work includes the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, the Denza Z measures less than 4.8 meters in length, making it the smallest vehicle in the Denza lineup.

The model represents an important step in BYD’s strategy to expand Denza into the premium performance vehicle segment beyond luxury sedans and SUVs.

Tri-motor powertrain delivers supercar performance

The Denza Z is powered by a tri-motor electric drivetrain consisting of one front motor and two rear motors that produce a combined peak output of 1,180 kW (1,582 horsepower).

The flagship Racing model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.96 seconds and reaches a top speed of 350 km/h.

The Coupe completes the sprint in 2.25 seconds, while the Spider requires 2.3 seconds. Both versions have electronically limited top speeds of 300 km/h.

The supercar features BYD’s first fully in-house-developed steer-by-wire system, eliminating the traditional mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels. It also debuts the company’s DiSus-M intelligent magnetorheological suspension system, which adjusts damping in less than 10 milliseconds.

Power comes from BYD’s second-generation 76 kWh Blade Battery using lithium iron phosphate chemistry, providing an estimated range of 254 miles (409 kilometers) for the Coupe.

Denza has also confirmed that the Z has begun Nürburgring Nordschleife testing as it seeks to establish itself among the world’s leading high-performance electric sports cars. Once launched, the model is expected to compete with vehicles such as the Porsche 911 and Xiaomi SU7 Ultra.
