The Xiaomi YU7 was benchmarked against the Tesla Model Y.

Xiaomi has officially launched the YU7, its first all-electric crossover SUV. With its new vehicle, Xiaomi is setting its sights on the Tesla Model Y, which has been performing very well in China’s domestic market.
Priced from RMB 253,500 ($35,360), the YU7 undercuts the Model Y and secured over 200,000 firm orders within just three minutes of its debut, according to Xiaomi EV. That’s a strong start for Xiaomi’s crossover.
The Xiaomi YU7 is available in three variants: Standard, Pro, and Max. All models offer size and range advantages over Tesla’s Model Y. The YU7 Standard features a single-motor RWD setup delivering 320 Ps and a 0–100 km/h time of 5.88 seconds. It’s powered by a 96.3 kWh LFP battery, with a CLTC range of 835 km.
The Pro and Max variants step up to dual-motor AWD, offering 496 Ps and 690 Ps respectively, with 0–100 km/h times of 4.27 and 3.23 seconds, according to CNEV Post. The Max variant includes a larger 101.7 kWh ternary lithium battery, delivering 760 km of CLTC range. In comparison, Tesla’s Model Y RWD and AWD offer CLTC ranges of 593 km and 719 km, and slower acceleration times.

Xiaomi founder Lei Jun openly compared the YU7 to the Model Y at the launch, claiming superiority in price, specs, and size. Measuring 4,999 mm long with a 3,000 mm wheelbase, the YU7 surpasses the Model Y in dimensions.
Buyers who place a refundable RMB 5,000 deposit by July 31 can access up to RMB 66,000 in incentives. Customers waiting for SU7 deliveries may also switch to the YU7 by June 29. Some YU7 units are already in production, with delivery for non-custom units expected within 1–5 weeks. Customized versions are slated for August, likely aligned with the completion of Xiaomi’s EV factory phase 2 project.
