The high-performance electric SUV completed the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7 minutes and 34.931 seconds, nearly two seconds faster than Audi’s previous production SUV record.
Xiaomi said the YU7 GT set the lap record with a time of 7:34.931, beating the Audi RS Q8’s 2024 record of 7:36.69.
According to CarNewsChina, Xiaomi Auto also noted that the SUV previously achieved a 7-minute 32-second lap during testing, suggesting additional performance potential beyond the official production record run, according to Autoblog.
The YU7 GT is the performance version of Xiaomi’s YU7 electric SUV and uses a dual motor All Wheel Drive setup producing a combined 990 horsepower, or 738 kW.
Xiaomi describes the vehicle as a “sports car-level SUV suitable for long-distance travel.”
The SUV uses a 101.7 kWh ternary lithium battery pack and offers a CLTC-rated range of 438 miles. Built on an 800-volt electrical platform, Xiaomi says the YU7 GT can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in 12 minutes.
The vehicle also reached nearly 298 km/h, or 185 mph, on the Nürburgring’s Döttinger Höhe straight, with a claimed top speed of 186 mph.
The record-setting model included Xiaomi’s optional Track Pack, which adds Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, 21-inch wheels with Michelin high-performance tires, and updates to suspension software, active ride stability, and traction control calibration.
Sales of the YU7 GT are scheduled to begin in China on May 21 as Xiaomi continues expanding its presence in the high-performance EV segment.
