Xiaomi Delivers 5,000 Next-Gen SU7 Sedans in First Week After Launch

Xiaomi has moved quickly to convert early demand for its updated SU7 electric sedan into deliveries, handing over thousands of vehicles within days of launch. The rapid rollout highlights the company’s growing execution in the EV space as it pushes toward ambitious volume targets.

Xiaomi delivers ~5,000 SU7 units in first week after launch

Xiaomi Corporation delivered roughly 4,000 to 5,000 units of the updated Xiaomi SU7 in its first full week following the March 19 debut.

Deliveries began on March 23, just days after launch, supported by early production ramp-up. The company had prepared manufacturing capacity two months in advance to meet anticipated demand, according to CNEV Post.

The fast start follows strong order momentum. Xiaomi recorded over 15,000 locked-in orders within 34 minutes, with total orders surpassing 30,000 units by March 23.

The entry-level variant has proven the most popular, helped by a starting price of 219,900 yuan (~$31,800), positioned below the Tesla Model 3 in China.

Strong demand meets upgraded tech and aggressive targets

The updated SU7 introduces more than 100 hardware and software upgrades, including a new XLA-powered assisted driving system and a silicon carbide high-voltage platform across the lineup.

Higher trims, such as the Pro version, feature a 96.3 kWh battery with a claimed range of up to 902 km, reflecting Xiaomi’s push into high-performance EV territory.

However, the upgrades come at a cost. Xiaomi said material costs increased by about 20,000 yuan per vehicle, raising concerns about profitability. Following the launch, the company’s Hong Kong-listed shares dropped 8.59%.

Despite margin pressure, Xiaomi is aiming for scale. The company is targeting 550,000 vehicle sales in 2026, with the SU7 and the upcoming YU7 SUV expected to drive growth.
