Xiaomi Sets May 21 Launch for 990 HP YU7 GT Electric SUV

Xiaomi confirmed that its high-performance Xiaomi YU7 GT will officially launch on May 21, as the company continues expanding its position in China’s premium EV market.

The all-electric SUV is expected to deliver up to 990 horsepower and a top speed of 300 km/h.

Xiaomi said the launch event will take place at 7:00 p.m. Beijing time and will also include the unveiling of several consumer electronics products.

Ahead of the launch, YU7 GT display vehicles are already available in 268 stores across 82 cities in China. Customers can currently view exterior colors, including Crimson Red, Volcano Grey, and Sunset Purple, though interior access and test drives will begin only after the vehicle officially enters the market, according to CNEV Post.

Xiaomi EV described the YU7 GT as a “pure-blooded GT” equipped with a dual motor system producing a combined 738 kW, or 990 horsepower.

The SUV is expected to offer a CLTC-rated electric driving range of 705 kilometers and is projected to be priced around 400,000 yuan, or about $58,950.

Xiaomi positions YU7 GT as premium performance flagship

According to Xiaomi EV, the YU7 GT was developed to balance “high performance, luxurious comfort, and long range,” distinguishing it from the more track-focused SU7 Ultra sedan.

The SUV features a long hood design, a wide body layout, and carbon ceramic brake discs. Xiaomi also said the model was jointly tuned by Chinese and European engineering teams using Germany’s Nürburgring Nordschleife as a testing ground.

The company described the YU7 GT as “the pinnacle flagship of the YU7 family,” adding that development focused on both cornering stability and long-distance driving quality.

The launch comes as Xiaomi’s EV business continues to grow rapidly. According to data compiled by CnEVPost, the company delivered 36,702 vehicles in April, up 28.4 percent year over year and 71.18 percent higher than March.
