The all-new, redesigned 6th-generation Toyota RAV4 is now fully electrified.

The all-new, sixth-generation 2026 Toyota RAV4 is now fully electrified. This means that for the 2026 model year, America’s best-selling compact SUV will only be available as a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) or Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV).
According to Toyota in a press release, the new 2026 RAV4 will be available in Core, Rugged, and Sport styles. A rugged Woodland version and a GR SPORT trim will also be offered for the 2026 model year.
The Toyota RAV4’s 6th-generation PHEV powertrain now boasts 320 hp and a 50-mile electric range, up from its predecessor’s 42 miles. The RAV4 HEV’s power was also increased to 236 hp on AWD and 226 hp on the vehicle’s FWD options. Toyota claims DC fast-charging for the Woodland and PHEV XSE trims, which should allow the vehicle to charge to 80% in 30 minutes. The 2026 RAV4 PHEVs, however, are not equipped with Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, unlike the all-electric Toyota bZ EV, CH-R EV and the bZ Woodland.
The introduction of the Toyota RAV4 GR Sport trim, with its aggressive styling and PHEV powertrain, alongside the rugged Woodland variant, signals Toyota’s focus on performance and adventure. This was emphasized by David Christ, group vice president and general manager. “At Toyota, customer choice is paramount. With three distinct styles, two highly efficient electrified powertrains, and available Front- or All-Wheel Drive, the all-new RAV4 offers something for everyone and is ready to take on all of life’s adventures,” Christ said.

The 2026 RAV4’s three styles—the Core, Rugged, and Sport—cater to different audiences, with Core models (LE, XLE, Limited) being perfect for everyday customers, the Woodland model providing all-terrain capabilities, and the Sport trim (SE, XSE, GR Sport) focusing on road presence and performance. The RAV4 GR Sport is quite special in particular, as it was designed with input from the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing engineering division.
The 2026 RAV4 interior is quite simplistic, with fewer buttons and more screens. It also features Toyota’s Arene software platform, which enables Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 and an updated Audio Multimedia system. As for its exterior, the 2026 RAV4 features Toyota’s current-generation “hammerhead” front, similar to the company’s other vehicles. Toyota expects the 2026 RAV4 to start arriving at dealerships later this year, with pricing details to follow. Car and Driver, however, expects the RAV4’s base trims to start at about $34,000 and the GR Sport PHEV to cost about $51,000.
