The EV model will be built on the revolutionary AMG.EA platform, a purpose-built architecture designed exclusively for electric high-performance vehicles.

The most jaw-dropping specification is the anticipated power output: over 1,000 horsepower. This extraordinary figure will be achieved through advanced axial-flux electric motors, a technology Mercedes claims offers four times more torque and double the power of current market technologies.

Unlike previous electric Mercedes models, this SUV will have a distinct identity. Spotted during cold-weather testing in northern Sweden, the prototype reveals a four-door coupe-like silhouette, aggressive wheel arches, retractable door handles, and a bold front design. 

Strategic Positioning

This EV model is part of a broader Mercedes-AMG strategy to create two standalone electric performance vehicles: the SUV and a four-door coupe. Both will utilize the new AMG.EA platform and represent the brand’s vision for electric performance.

While pricing has not been officially announced, this electric model will certainly command a premium price reflective of its EV technology. In addition, the electric SUV is expected to launch in Europe in 2027, with a United States (U.S.) debut anticipated to follow shortly after.
