CUPRA, the performance-oriented subsidiary of SEAT, is set to make a bold entry into the premium electric vehicle (EV) market as preorders have opened with its first all-electric SUV coupe, the Tavascan.

Buyers from the United Kingdom (UK) can place orders for the CUPRA Tavascan with prices starting at £47,340 ($62,560) on September 11, 2024. Available in four trim levels with the V1, V2, VZ1, and VZ2, the top-trim VZ2 model is priced at £60,835 ($80,414), positioning it as a competitor to luxury EVs like the Polestar 4, Genesis GV60, and Mercedes-Benz EQE.

Notably, the CUPRA Tavascan comes in two power outputs: a 286 horsepower rear-wheel-drive (RWD) version and a more potent 340PS dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant. The latter can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.5 seconds. All models feature a 77kWh battery, providing a range of up to 352 miles and supporting both AC and DC fast charging.

Marcus Gossen, Director of SEAT and CUPRA UK, expressed excitement about the launch stating, “This is a culmination of years of hard work, innovation, and design coming together to create the future of CUPRA.”

To celebrate the launch, CUPRA is offering an attractive retail campaign. Buyers can benefit from a £3,000 ($3,964) deposit contribution and 1% APR financing over 48 months. In addition, they can choose between a complimentary Ohme charger or a £700 ($925) charging voucher. The company’s eCare2 service plan is also available for a nominal £49.

For those eager to be among the first Tavascan owners in the UK, CUPRA is offering a reservation system. With a refundable £99 deposit, buyers can secure priority for one of the first 50 vehicles available in the country.

CUPRA has also been set to launch two of its other EV models in the United States (U.S.) market with its Formentor and a larger electric crossover SUV. These models will be assembled at Volkswagen’s North American factories qualify for the federal EV tax credit.

As CUPRA continues to expand its premium EV offerings, the Tavascan with its combination of striking design and advanced EV technology aims to carve out a niche in the increasingly competitive UK EV market.
