Acura Released New EV Concept Teaser Images Of Its Next-Gen Design

Acura is set to make waves at the upcoming Monterey Car Week with the debut of a new electric SUV concept that aims to redefine the boundaries of the electric vehicle (EV) industry.
In details of the teaser image released by Acura, a sleek blue rear end is visible that features a striking full-width taillight with tightly spaced vertical LED elements. The illuminated “Acura” badging sits clearly below, hinting at a bold new design language for the brand company’s EV offerings.
Described as a “segment defying sport utility vehicle,” the concept is said to preview Acura’s next-generation EV. What sets this EV apart is its foundation, it will be the first to ride on a new dedicated EV platform developed in-house by Acura and parent company Honda, marking a new shift from their current EV offerings based on GM’s Ultium platform.

The production version of this concept is aimed for production at Honda’s Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio, underlining the company’s goal of domestic manufacturing. Moreover, this strategic move aligns with Honda’s broader strategy to establish a robust EV supply chain in the United States (U.S.), including plans for a battery plant in partnership with LG.
While details remain scarce, Acura’s decision to unveil this concept at Monterey Car Week speaks to the company’s ambition to position its future EVs as enticing and high-performance models. Notably, this reveal follows last year’s presentation of the electric ZDX Type S at the same event.
As this concept signals Acura’s strategic pivot towards EVs, the company’s position in the EV market to reach higher levels will be determined by its EV strategy. The Monterey Car Week will be occurring from August 9 to. August 18.
