The Cadillac Lyriq experienced a notable downturn in Q2 2025, with deliveries falling across the United States and Canada. U.S. sales dropped 31% year-over-year to 5,017 units, while Canada posted a 51% decline with 536 units delivered.

The results highlight mounting challenges for the Lyriq, even as competition in the luxury electric crossover space intensifies.

Lyriq performance trails rivals

The U.S. luxury D-crossover BEV segment contracted 8% overall in Q2 2025, but the Lyriq’s 31% decline outpaced the market average. Cadillac’s EV placed third in the segment with 5,017 deliveries, behind Tesla’s Model Y, which remained dominant at 86,120 units despite a 14% dip, and Acura’s ZDX, which posted 5,522 sales. Audi’s Q6 e-tron followed with 3,716 units, while Lexus’ RZ fell 42% to 2,325, according to GM Authority

The Lyriq’s market share slipped to 5%, down from 7% a year earlier. While the Lyriq is in third place, the vehicle, as well as its peers in the luxury D-crossover BEV segment, are all dominated by the Tesla Model Y. Despite its year-over-year decline, the Tesla Model Y still commands 84% of the segment with its 86,120 sales in Q2 2025.

Competition from Acura and Cadillac Optiq

One factor cited in the Lyriq’s slowdown is cannibalization from the new Cadillac Optiq, which sold 3,224 units in Q2 2025. Both models share Cadillac’s V-Series performance option, but the Optiq undercuts the Lyriq in price, drawing in more cost-conscious buyers. Adding to the pressure, Acura’s ZDX, which is built on the same GM Ultium platform and assembled alongside the Lyriq in Spring Hill, also managed to outsell Cadillac’s offering.

This January, GM announced the 2026 Lyriq-V’s specs and pricing. The high-performance variant features a dual-motor setup powered by a 102 kWh battery. The vehicle features 615 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque, allowing the 2026 Lyriq-V to sprint from 0-60 mph in just 3.3 seconds. The Lyriq-V will also feature a soundtrack inspired by the CT5-V Blacking and the V-Series.R.
