Acura’s first in-house electric vehicle will launch in 2026 with advanced software features. It highlights Acura’s entry into the EV era.
Acura unveiled the RSX Prototype at Monterey Car Week on August 15, offering a first look at its next-generation all-electric performance SUV. The Acura RSX Prototype is finished in “Propulsion Yellow Pearl, and is built on Honda’s new flexible EV platform. The production version will be manufactured at Honda’s EV Hub in Ohio, alongside existing Acura models.
The Acura RSX Prototype boasts a coupe-inspired fastback silhouette, featuring bold styling details such as flared wheel arches, 21-inch rims, and a full-width rear taillight reminiscent of the NSX. “The dramatic styling of our Acura RSX Prototype demonstrates that it’s not just a new EV, but a compelling all-new Acura model,” said Lance Woelfer, vice president of Auto Sales at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “RSX will deliver on nearly four decades of Acura Precision Crafted Performance brand DNA with appealing design and cutting-edge technology.”
It’s not all style with Acura’s upcoming EV either. The automaker made sure that the Acura RSX looks good and performs well. The Acura RSX Dual-motor all-wheel drive features a low center of gravity, along with a sport-tuned suspension and Brembo brakes to ensure driving engagement.
Inside, the electric SUV introduces premium materials, a versatile layout, and advanced driver assistance systems, underscoring Acura’s push into performance-oriented electrification. “The Acura RSX has a sporty coupe style that expresses the performance that comes from excellent aerodynamics,” said Yasutake Tsuchida, Acura Creative Director and vice president of American Honda R&D. “Starting from this all-new RSX we will redefine the Acura brand around timeless beauty and a high-tech feel that is essential for a performance and unique brand.”

The RSX electric SUV is set to launch in 2026 and will be the first Acura powered by Honda’s new ASIMO OS, a software-defined platform that personalizes driving experiences through machine learning.
The ASIMO system manages infotainment, driver assistance, and connectivity features, with over-the-air updates planned for ongoing enhancements. In line with Honda’s carbon neutrality goals, the RSX will also serve as a mobile energy storage system, powering devices and providing home backup electricity.
