Xpeng Set To Hit UK Market With G6 Model In 2025

Xpeng is set to make its debut in the United Kingdom (UK), announcing a strategic distribution agreement with International Motors Ltd (IML) to launch its G6 electric vehicle (EV) model in early 2025.

The G6, a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y, will be Xpeng’s first model in the UK market. Priced competitively at RMB 199,900 (around $27,640) in China, the electric SUV arrives with notable specifications that could challenge established automakers.

Featuring an advanced 800-volt platform, the G6 offers multiple powertrain options. Buyers can choose between rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations, with the top-tier model capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kph in just four seconds. Battery options include a 66 kWh LFP battery providing up to 435 km (270 miles) of range and an 87.5 kWh NCM battery offering 550 km to 570 km (341 miles to 354 miles) under WLTP standards.

The vehicle’s fast-charging capability is particularly noteworthy, with Xpeng claiming the ability to charge from 10% to 80% in less than 20 minutes using its 280 kW charging technology.

This UK launch is part of Xpeng’s broader European expansion strategy. The company has already established a presence in multiple European countries, including Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, and others. By 2025, Xpeng aims to have a global footprint across more than 60 markets, with an ambitious goal of generating half its sales from international markets.

IML, with 50 years of automotive experience, will handle vehicle import and after-sales services. The partnership was initially showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2024, where potential UK buyers got their first glimpse of the G6.
