Tesla Model 3 Performance Price Jumps $1,000 for Second Time Since Launch

Tesla’s high-performance electric vehicle (EV), Model 3 Performance, has increased in price by $1,000 for the second time in less than a month. First launched on April 23 with a starting price of $52,990, the Model 3 Performace had its first price increase to $53,990 just days later. Now, it has jumped in price again to $54,990.

Tesla’s Model 3 Performance delivers high-level specs with 510 horsepower and an acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds. Moreover, it is also eligible for the $7,500 federal EV tax credit. When factoring the tax credit to the new price of the Model 3 Performance at $54,990, it will be priced at $47,490. 

Furthermore, Tesla has also adjusted the price for other interior options across the Model 3 range. The price of the White Interior for the Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD) and Long Range trims of the Model 3 has seen a price increase by $500 to $2,000. However, the White Interior for the Model 3 Performance now costs nothing at $0. Notably, the lease rate has also been changed with the Performance trim now priced at $616 per month, a $50 increase from the previous rate.

The price adjustment for Tesla’s Model 3 Performance is projected through its revision of its strategy, where the company launched its Model Y Long Range RWD trim with up to 60 miles of range extra at a higher price point of $44,990. In the case of its Model 3 Performance, there is no software unlock but its starting price sees an increase anyway twice in a row, making it potentially possible for a third price hike depending on market response. 

With Tesla making recent headlines, its ongoing pricing adjustments highlight the dynamic nature of the EV market and its responsiveness to meet demands. It remains to be seen how these changes will impact Tesla’s market position and customer satisfaction, but as of now, the Model 3 Performance is still available for purchase.
