Tesla has introduced a unique software update for Cybertruck owners, allowing them to replace their electric vehicle’s (EV) traditional horn with a sci-fi-inspired sound effect.

The update, rolled out through the Tesla mobile app in November 2024, offers owners a free, permanent horn sound upgrade that transforms the vehicle’s acoustic signature. Users can preview the new tone before committing to the change, with Tesla emphasizing that the upgrade is irreversible.

A Cyberpunk-Inspired Tone

The new horn sound has been described as distinctly “cyberpunk-esque,” matching the Cybertruck’s angular and aggressive design language. Social media videos demonstrate a sound that seems more like a movie prop effect than a conventional vehicle horn.

Owners can access the new horn through a simple prompt in the Tesla mobile app, with no additional software update required. The feature is available to all Cybertruck owners, regardless of when their vehicle was manufactured.

For Tesla owners without a Cybertruck, a similar customization option exists through the Boombox feature, though it only works when the vehicle is in park.
