Moreover, JLR has also started training over 11,000 manufacturing colleagues to build battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and expanded its skills base by creating 950 electrification roles in engineering during FY24 according to JLR.

Furthermore, JLR Learning Academy has also invested around £20 million (around $25 million) annually to guide employees and partners on electrification education. All of this aligns with JLR’s Reimagine Strategy, which entails the company’s luxury brands will be electrified by 2030 with the company aiming to become carbon net zero by 2039.

Barbara Bergmeier, JLR Executive Director of Industrial Operations, expressed the importance of workforce readiness in achieving JLR’s Reimagine strategy stating, “Our plans to electrify our ultra-desirable modern luxury brands are unfolding at speed, and I’m delighted with the pace that our Future Skills Programme is readying our talented workforce.”

As JLR is making major moves to reach its Reimagine Strategy, the aim for electrification will place it ahead of its competitors based on the strategic actions they have conducted. With more automakers transitioning to electric mobility, the EV market will see notable emergences as the industry gets more familiar with it.
