Maestro S800 Combines Global Luxury Design Elements, Two Powerful Powertrain Options, And Advanced Autonomous Features

Huawei, in partnership with automaker JAC, has unveiled official images of their highly anticipated Maextro S800, marking a bold entry into the ultra-luxury electric vehicle (EV) segment. The S800, the inaugural vehicle from their premium Maextro brand, stands as China’s largest electric sedan and surpasses even the Mercedes-Benz Maybach S-Class in size.

At an imposing length of 5,480 millimeters, the Maextro S800 commands attention with its distinctive design that draws inspiration from various luxury automakers. Based on the official images, the vehicle’s aesthetic combines elements reminiscent of Polestar’s front-end styling, Rolls-Royce-inspired wheels, and a silhouette that echoes the Mercedes S-Class, creating a unique blend of Eastern and Western design languages.

The technical specifications of the S800 are equally exceptional, offering two powertrain configurations. The pure battery electric version (BEV) features a triple-motor setup, with one 160 kW motor in the front and two 237.5 kW motors on the rear axles, delivering a combined output of 852 horsepower.
For the EREV (extended-range electric vehicle) variant, it pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with three electric motors to produce an astounding 1,006 horsepower. The EREV model incorporates a 63.262 kWh CATL battery pack, providing an all-electric range between 272 and 371 kilometers under China’s CLTC testing standards.
Huawei has also showcased the S800’s advanced autonomous capabilities through a recently released video demonstration. The footage displays the vehicle independently locating a charging station, parking itself, and connecting to a robotic charging arm without human intervention – though similar promises from other automakers have yet to materialize in production vehicles.

The Maextro S800 represents Huawei’s fourth brand under their HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) umbrella, joining Stelato, Aito, and Luxeed. Production will take place in Hefei at JAC’s newly completed factory – the same city where JAC previously manufactured Nio vehicles.
While the official launch date remains unannounced, industry experts anticipate a second-quarter release. The vehicle began accepting blind pre-orders in November 2023 with a RMB 20,000 deposit requirement. Final pricing is expected to range between RMB 1 million and RMB 1.5 million (around $136,000 to $205,000), positioning the S800 as a direct competitor to other premium EVs like the NIO ET9.

With its combination of imposing dimensions, powerful performance capabilities, and advanced autonomous features, the Maextro S800 represents China’s ambitious push into the ultra-luxury EV segment, challenging established European automakers on their own turf.
