Genesis has launched an updated version of its Electrified G80 luxury sedan in South Korea, marking a significant upgrade to its flagship electric vehicle (EV) since its first unveiling at the Busan International Mobility Show in June.

According to Genesis, the new Electrified G80 comes equipped with a fourth-generation 94.5 kWh battery, enabling it to travel up to 475 km (295 miles) on a single charge in South Korea. This represents a notable improvement over its predecessor. While U.S. EPA ratings are not yet available, the updated model should go up from the current 282 miles.

Genesis has also enhanced the driving experience with several technological improvements including upgraded front and rear suspension bushings for reduced vibration, Road-Preview Electronic Control Suspension (Preview ECS) for improved stability, Electrically Assisted Dynamic Torque Vectoring (eDTVC) for better cornering performance, and Rear Wheel Steering (RWS) system for improved maneuverability.

One of the most significant changes is the extended wheelbase, which has been increased by 130 mm to 3,140 mm. This modification provides best-in-class rear seat comfort, with passengers now enjoying 995 mm of legroom (83 mm more than before) and 950 mm of headroom (a 20 mm increase).

The updated Electrified G80 showcases a range of exterior design enhancements, including a redesigned G-Matrix Crest Grille with a distinctive gradient pattern. The EV features enlarged air intakes and Two-Line Micro Lens Array (MLA) headlamps for improved visibility. The charging port has been seamlessly integrated with new interior covers and lighting, while the addition of new 19-inch wheels enhances aerodynamics. The refined rear bumper design is accentuated with sleek chrome details, contributing to the EV’s sophisticated appearance.

The interior has been reimagined to provide a more luxurious experience, showcasing a 27-inch OLED display that integrates both the instrument cluster and infotainment system. It features a new 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system with Dolby Atmos technology for exceptional audio quality. In addition, refined touch-based controls enhance the ease of managing climate and other vehicle functions, while ambient mood lighting and redesigned interior elements create a sophisticated atmosphere.

For the first time in an EV, Genesis has introduced a “Chauffeur Mode” that optimizes torque and suspension settings for a smoother ride. This model also arrives with a suite of luxury features, including VIP rear seats with up to 14-way adjustments and a 40-degree recline angle for maximum comfort. Convenience is further enhanced by a one-button easy rear door system, electric door curtains, and a sophisticated rear smart entertainment system.

In South Korea, the new Genesis Electrified G80 starts at around 89.19 million won (about $66,900) before incentives. The EV model is projected to launch in Europe and North America following its South Korean debut, with United States (U.S.) pricing likely to start around $74,375, based on current model pricing.

With the blend of extended range, luxurious features, and flagship-level amenities, the updated Genesis Electrified G80 stands out as a luxury EV that aims to set a new standard in the luxury electric sedan market.
