A Rally Will Be Held To Celebrate And Address The Shift To For Disneyland’s Autopia To Be All-Electric On April 21

Disneyland has stated plans to shift towards electric mobility by electrifying its famous Autopia ride from gas-powered vehicles to electric vehicles (EVs) within the next 30 months. The decision is made from public concerns over the environmental impact of traditional gasoline-powered engines and increasing Disneyland’s sustainability efforts.
A Disney spokesperson Jessica Good confirmed in a statement to the Los Angeles Times, explaining clearly on the shift to all-electric for its Autopia ride stating, “electrification means fully electric — it does not mean hybrid or any other version of a gasoline combustion engine.”

Autopia is a classic ride in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland section and has been a fan favorite among Disneyland park visitors. With this in mind, the transition to EVs makes it more important to dispose of the exhaust emissions that harm the air as well as the cardiovascular system of parkgoers. It also makes Autopia more naturalistic to its theme as it does cater to the futuristic theme of Tomorrowland.
As Disneyland is located in California, it also fits with the state’s policies and values of following greener initiatives and sustainable transportation including EVs. Moreover, the announcement of this shift has also been met with enthusiasm from environmental advocates and Disneyland fans as both groups have planned a rally to celebrate and advocate with local EV advocates and Plug In America scheduled on April 21.
Disney’s commitment to sustainability does not only apply to Autopia as the company has also made plans to cut down its carbon footprint and aligns with its goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2030. With the promise of an all-electric ride experience for Autopia, you can look forward to a futuristically cleaner Tomorrowland.
