Filosa said the automaker expects EV sales to grow over the long term and will continue launching electric models based on consumer demand rather than government regulations.

CEO Antonio Filosa said at the Paris Motor Show that Stellantis will keep bringing new electric vehicles to the U.S., even as its latest strategy shifts more attention back to combustion powertrains.
Filosa said the automaker expects EV sales to grow over the long term and will continue launching electric models based on consumer demand rather than government regulations.
Speaking during a question-and-answer session with international journalists, Filosa pointed to the priorities of large pickup truck buyers as an example of how the company approaches its product decisions.
“Our customers of large pickups want best-in-class towing, they want best-in-class horsepower, they want best-in-class torque and they want best-in-class payload,” Filosa said in response to a question, according to WardsAuto.
“So, it’s again about consumers, not about regulation,” he added.
The comments reflect Stellantis’ approach under its FaSTLAne 2030 strategy, introduced in May 2026. The plan followed poor first-half 2025 results and $26 billion in EV-related write-offs that year, mostly in North America.
Filosa has blamed those first-half results on former CEO Carlos Tavares, who stepped down on December 1, 2024. FaSTLAne 2030 aims to match Stellantis’ products to the needs of each global region.

Stellantis is continuing to develop its U.S. electric vehicle lineup even as it puts greater emphasis on internal combustion engine powertrains. Filosa said EVs accounted for 6.4% of all vehicle sales in the third quarter, but he remains confident that sales will grow over the long term.
“We are still launching EVs in the market because we believe that in the long run we will see an increase,” he said.
WardsAuto reported that the 2026 Jeep Recon EV and the Wagoneer S, which is currently on hiatus, will be joined by more fully electric models as consumer demand grows.
Filosa’s comments indicate that Stellantis intends to keep adding electric vehicles to its U.S. offerings while shaping its product plans around what customers want.
