2026 Cadillac Optiq Adds Rear-Wheel Drive and Boosts Performance

Cadillac is updating the Optiq EV for 2026 with new drive options and more power. The crossover, first introduced in 2025 as an AWD-only model, will now come standard with a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) layout, likely lowering its starting price. Production begins in August 2025 at the GM Ramos Arizpe facility in Mexico.

More power, more choices across the lineup

The 2026 Optiq lineup brings several mechanical upgrades. The new RWD model will produce 315 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, powered by the same 85 kWh battery found across all trims. Cadillac estimates 300 miles of range per charge, with DC fast charging capable of adding 79 miles in just 10 minutes, according to GM Authority.

Meanwhile, the AWD version sees a major power bump from 300 hp to 440 hp, and torque rising from 354 to 498 lb-ft. Both configurations ride on GM’s BEV3 platform and benefit from improved acceleration and efficiency over its predecessor.

Optiq-V brings serious performance with cool design tweaks

New for the 2026 model year is the Optiq-V, a high-output variant aimed at performance-minded EV buyers. It delivers 519 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque through a dual-motor setup. With Velocity Max mode active, Cadillac claims the Optiq-V can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds.

Aesthetic updates also arrive for the new model year. Crystal White Tricoat (G1W) has been replaced with a new exterior color, Vibrant White Tricoat (G4J). Dealer configurations open June 26, retail order processing starts July 24, and production kicks off August 25 at GM’s Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.
