It is the first GM all-electric vehicle that will have a NACS charger as standard.
The 2026 Cadillac Optiq-V is Cadillac’s smallest and newest all-electric V-Series model. It features a 519-hp dual-motor setup that produces 650 lb-ft of torque, which allows it to achieve a quick 3.5-second 0-60 mph time.
This high-performance compact EV SUV, starting at $68,795, will be available in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Middle East, Israel, and Japan. Production is expected to start this fall.
Chief engineer John Cockburn highlighted the Optiq-V’s power. As per the engineer, the performance EV is equipped with an 85-kWh battery and an estimated range of 275 miles. In comparison, a standard Optiq features 302 miles and 300 hp. That’s a significant leap in raw performance for a slightly lower real-world range.
The Optiq-V’s dedicated “V-mode” enhances steering, acceleration, and damping, while torque vectoring and launch control add exhilaration. Standard features include ZF’s continuous damping control, Brembo brakes, and a native NACS charger for Tesla Supercharger access.
Cadillac’s Global Marketing Director Brad Franz is bullish about the Optiq-V’s potential to attract customers from other brands. “EVs are proving to have high conquest rates: 81 percent for the Lyriq and 77 percent for the Optiq, attracting younger and more affluent customers,” he said.
The Optiq-V’s exterior is specifically sculpted for performance and aerodynamics, as per Exterior Design Lead Hoon Kim. As a result, the vehicle features a lower stance and a lower ride height. The vehicle’s lower areas were also resurfaced to direct air, as per a MotorTrend report.
Even the Optiq-V’s front end has been redesigned with a signature V diamond mesh grille that improves airflow. Inside, blue accents and a 33-inch LED display with Google Built-in and a 19-speaker AKG system with Dolby Atmos add luxury, while Super Cruise offers hands-free driving that could rival the best in the industry.
While the Optiq-V is not the first “V”-branded EV from Cadillac—that honor goes to the Lyriq-V—it nonetheless promises to be the most fun EV in the company’s lineup. Being smaller than the Lyriq-V, the Optiq-V would likely be more nimble and fun around the corners, which is something that will truly be appreciated by divers who value fun and performance.
