2025 Porsche Taycan 4S is the Sweet Spot Between Power and Poise

With the spotlight often on Porsche’s high-powered Taycan Turbo GT, the 2025 Taycan 4S quietly emerges as the true all-rounder for everyday performance. Slotting beneath the range-topping variants, the 4S blends usable power, cutting-edge chassis tech, and impressive range, making it a compelling choice for drivers who crave excitement without needing a track pass. 

Balanced performance and next-gen tech

Car and Driver’s test highlights the 4S as perhaps the most balanced Taycan today, thanks to meaningful mid-cycle upgrades. Behind the wheel, the Taycan 4S with the optional Performance Battery Plus offers a potent 590 horsepower with launch control and hits 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds, faster than Porsche’s own estimate. Its two-speed gearbox ensures strong acceleration beyond triple-digit speeds, with a quarter-mile run clocked at 11.2 seconds at 125 mph. 

While not as ferocious as a Lucid Air Sapphire or the Tacan Turbo GT Weissach, the 4S still pins drivers back with force. The real magic, however, comes from Porsche’s Active Ride system, which replaces traditional anti-roll bars with hydraulics to maintain grip and control, particularly over uneven roads.

Upgraded battery, faster charging, and more

The 2025 Taycan 4S brings meaningful efficiency upgrades, with a new 97-kWh battery pack that boosts EPA-rated range to 295 miles on 21-inch wheels and up to 315 miles on 19s. In real-world testing, it outperformed expectations by delivering 330 miles at 75 mph and completely crushing its 2020 iteration’s numbers. 

Porsche has also introduced 320-kW peak charging power, trimming the 10–80% recharge window to just 18 minutes. Unlike the new Macan Electric, the Taycan doesn’t split its battery for 400V chargers, but it does use a charge pump device to boost what it can get from its hardware. Inside, the interface remains polished and functional, though rear-seat room is still cramped, unless divers opt the Cross Truism variant, which as more headroom.
