Zeekr is preparing to launch its 007 GT electric wagon in Europe, bringing with it groundbreaking technology that could reshape expectations for electric vehicles (EVs). Scheduled to debut in Q2 2025, this electric shooting brake promises to be more than just another addition to the EV market.

A Design That Turns Heads

In detail, the Zeekr 7GT (renamed from the Chinese 007 GT for European markets) stands out with its sleek, sporty design according to the official images from Zeekr. Featuring a floating roof with a blacked-out C-pillar and subtle aerodynamic elements, the wagon looks distinctly more sophisticated than its competitors.

Moreover, its design language draws comparisons to a more compact, Chinese-designed Lucid Air, with an understated elegance that sets it apart from rivals like the Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer and potentially even the Audi A6 E-Tron Avant.

Revolutionary Charging Technology

The most jaw-dropping feature of the Zeekr 7GT is its charging capability. Equipped with the company’s proprietary “Golden Battery,” this electric wagon can add an astounding 500 km (311 miles) of range in just 15 minutes. Zeekr claims this is the world’s fastest-charging battery, capable of going from 10% to 80% charge in under 11 minutes.

What makes this battery truly revolutionary is its unique composition. It’s the world’s first 800-volt battery using lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, developed in-house by Geely specifically for Zeekr. The battery boasts a higher volume utilization rate compared to competitors, meaning more of the battery’s physical space is dedicated to active cells.

Performance That Impresses

The new 7GT offers a range of powertrain options that mirror its sedan counterpart’s impressive lineup. Buyers can select a single-motor rear-wheel-drive configuration, which produces 416 horsepower, or opt for a dual-motor setup that delivers an astounding 637 horsepower. Complementing these powertrains are two battery options: a 75.6 kWh pack and a larger 100 kWh pack, the latter providing an exceptional range of up to 540 miles (870 km) on the Chinese test cycle.

Smart Technology and Driving Features

The 7GT isn’t just about performance—it also boasts state-of-the-art technology. A 15-inch OLED center screen and a 35.5-inch augmented reality (AR) heads-up display form the centerpiece of the interior’s advanced user interface. Audio enthusiasts will appreciate the 21-speaker premium sound system, while drivers benefit from the Haohan Intelligent Driving 2.0 system. This cutting-edge system is equipped with over 30 sensors, including Lidar, and is powered by two Nvidia Orin X chips capable of delivering 508 TOPS (trillion operations per second) of computing power.

A standout feature of the 7GT is its intelligent driving system, which is set to offer door-to-door autonomous driving capabilities by the time of its launch, solidifying the vehicle as a leader in innovation and convenience.

A Strategic European Expansion

While the wagon currently costs under $30,000 in China, European pricing is expected to start around €50,000 ($52,000). This positions it as a premium alternative in the electric wagon market, which currently has few options beyond the MG 5.

Zeekr is already established in several European countries, including the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden. The 7GT represents a strategic move to capture the European market’s continued appreciation for wagon-style vehicles, a body type that remains more popular in Europe than in China.

The Zeekr 7GT is a technological showcase that challenges existing notions of EV performance, charging speed, and design. As the automotive world continues its electric transformation, vehicles like the 7GT indicate that the future of transportation is not just about going electric, but about doing so with style, speed, and innovation.
