The MONA M03, first unveiled in early July, marks XPeng’s entry into a more accessible price segment. As part of the company’s strategy to expand its market share in domestic and international markets, the new model’s pricing undercuts XPeng’s current most affordable EVs, the P5 sedan, which starts at RMB 156,900 ($21,980).

Moreover, XPeng’s founder, chairman, and CEO He Xiaopeng recently announced that mass production of the MONA M03 has already started. The company started accepting pre-orders for the EV model on August 8, indicating strong interest from potential buyers.

The MONA M03 arrives in two configurations, offering maximum power outputs of 140kW and 160kW. The MONA M03 delivers an estimated range of up to 620 km (about 385 miles) due to its drag coefficient of 0.194.

Furthermore, the launch of the MONA M03 is part of XPeng’s broader strategy to offer AI-centric, affordable EVs. Initially described as a sub-brand, MONA has since been integrated as a new lineup within the XPeng brand.

Notably, XPeng has been making other strategic moves that has aimed at elevating its position in automotive landscape. One of them is the revealation of its plans to enter the Robotaxi market by aiming to launch self-driving taxis by 2026. As a result, XPeng is setting itself up for ambitious goals to reach new heights.

As the launch date approaches, EV industry observers and potential customers alike will await more details about this new addition to XPeng’s EV lineup. The official launch event for the MONA M03 is expected to take place in Beijing, coinciding with XPeng’s 10th-anniversary celebration.
