XPENG Lands In The UK: Unveiling AI-Defined EVs For British Buyers

XPENG has announced its official entry into the United Kingdom (UK), marking an influential expansion of its global footprint and introducing British consumers to what it calls the world’s first AI-defined electric vehicle (EV) lineup.

XPENG’s Flagship EV for the UK

In detail, XPENG’s UK debut is the right-hand-drive (RHD) G6, an all-electric coupe SUV that will be available to British consumers at a starting price of £39,990 (around $49,845). The company has begun accepting pre-orders for the G6, with deliveries scheduled to start in March 2025. The G6 showcases XPENG’s technological prowess, featuring 800-volt supercharging capabilities and an extended driving range designed to meet European driving demands.

The company’s UK launch event showcased an impressive lineup that extends beyond traditional EVs. In addition to the G6, XPENG presented the P7+, which it describes as the world’s first AI-defined vehicle, the G9 flagship SUV, and the X9 seven-seater. Notably, the company also displayed the eVTOL X2 flying car, developed by its subsidiary XPENG AEROHT, which stands as Asia’s largest eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) company.

Partnership with IML

To establish a strong presence in the UK market, XPENG has formed a crucial partnership with International Motors Ltd (IML), a veteran in vehicle distribution with nearly five decades of experience. Through this collaboration, the company plans to open 20 dealerships across the UK in 2025, ensuring comprehensive customer support and service coverage.

William Brown, Managing Director of IML UK, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We take great pride in partnering with an innovative brand like XPENG. Together, we are committed to shaping the future of electric mobility by providing market-leading vehicles and services.”

XPENG’s European Success

Since its founding in 2014, XPENG has established itself as one of the world’s fastest-growing high-tech automotive companies, having delivered more than 620,000 Smart EVs globally as the company’s goal of AI-driven advancement aims to provide more intuitive, safer, and highly customizable driving experiences.

XPENG’s expansion into the UK symbolizes part of a more comprehensive global strategy that has seen the company grow rapidly since its initial European entry in Norway in 2021. The company now operates in 13 countries and has plans to expand to more than 60 markets by the end of 2025. This growth is supported by recent strategic partnerships with Volkswagen and BP Pulse, aimed at developing super-fast charging networks and exploring advanced mobility solutions.
