XPeng has started exporting its L05 midsize SUV to international markets ahead of the vehicle’s domestic Chinese launch.

Planned for 65 countries and regions, the midsize SUV is heading overseas before XPeng discloses market-by-market shipment numbers or powertrain allocations.

Five million kilometers of global validation ahead of MONA WORLD debut

The Guangzhou automaker confirmed the first export dispatches on Weibo on Monday, October 26, just two days before the L05’s formal domestic launch on Wednesday, October 28, during its “MONA WORLD” event.

Ahead of the rollout, XPeng deployed 660 prototype vehicles across 25 countries and regions to log more than 5 million kilometers (3.1 million miles) of overseas durability testing, according to Eletric Vehicles.

While independent crash-test agencies have not yet published scores, XPeng states that the L05 was engineered around five-star safety criteria under C-NCAP 2024, Euro NCAP 2027 and Australia’s ANCAP 2027 protocols. Domestic pre-orders opened October 15 across three pure-electric and two extended-range trims priced from 169,800 yuan ($25,500) to 191,800 yuan ($28,800) for the flagship 635 Ultra SE.

Early-2027 arrivals in Europe and Australia and XPeng’s Q4 delivery goals

XPeng Europe marketing chief Sven De Smet told attendees at the Paris Motor Show on October 11 that European L05 deliveries will begin in early 2027—roughly a quarter after the smaller L03—while Vice Chairman Brian Gu previously targeted first-quarter 2027 showroom arrivals in Australia. Whether European-market SUVs will ship from China, where battery-electric imports face a 20.7% EU countervailing duty plus the 10% baseline tariff, or come off Magna Steyr’s assembly line in Graz, Austria, remains unconfirmed.

Measuring 4,870 mm (191.7 inches) long on a 2,940 mm wheelbase with up to 1,913 liters of rear cargo volume and a 102-liter frunk on BEV trims, every L05 uses a 183 kW rear motor. Pure-electric buyers can choose between a 58.2 kWh LFP pack rated at 535 km (332 miles) CLTC and a 71.1 kWh pack good for 635 km (395 miles), whereas extended-range variants combine a 37.2 kWh battery and 1.5-liter generator for 310 km of battery range and 1,310 km total.

As XPeng’s fourth SUV launch since May alongside the GX, L03 and G9L, the L05 underpins CEO He Xiaopeng’s push to top 60,000 monthly deliveries during the fourth quarter after the brand logged a record 118,390 third-quarter handovers.
