GM Energy and Reliant have teamed up to offer Chevrolet electric vehicle (EV) owners in Texas a new electricity plan with free nighttime charging, dubbed the “Reliant Free Charge Nights” plan.

Cost-Free Overnight Charging

In detail, the Reliant Free Charge Nights plan allows Chevy EV drivers to offset the cost of charging their vehicles by providing bill credits for electricity used between 11 PM and 6 AM.

Over 150 Chevrolet dealerships across Texas are now offering the Reliant Free Charge Nights plan to new EV buyers at the time of purchase, allowing customers to immediately take advantage of the cost-saving and environmental benefits.

Fuelling Overnight Charging

A key feature of the plan is that the electricity used for the free overnight charging is 100% renewable, sourced through the purchase of renewable energy certificates (RECs). This aligns with the sustainability goals of both Reliant and GM Energy.

“We’re excited to help Chevrolet EV drivers offset the cost of charging their vehicle all while having access to a renewable electricity plan,” stated Rasesh Patel, President of NRG Consumer, Reliant’s parent company.

Making EV Adoption Easier

The collaboration between the energy provider and automaker aims to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles by making charging more accessible and affordable for consumers.

“As we continue to shape the future of EV charging and energy management for our customers, our work alongside Reliant in Texas is a sign of our commitment to working with industry leaders to facilitate more solutions that make EV adoption an easy decision,” stated Aseem Kapur, Chief Revenue Officer at GM Energy.

How to Enroll

To participate in the Reliant Free Charge Nights plan, Chevrolet EV owners must first designate their EV in the GM Energy Smart Charging Portal. They can then sign up for the plan, providinge them with monthly bill credits to offset their overnight charging costs.

The plan is available to both new and existing Reliant customers, making it easier for Chevy EV drivers in Texas to take advantage of the renewable energy and cost-saving benefits.

As a result, this partnership between Reliant and GM Energy represents an important step in building the infrastructure and incentives needed to support widespread EV adoption.
