Polestar Unveils Bold Vision with Polestar 7 as Successor to Polestar 2

In a strategic move sought to redefine its place in the electric vehicle (EV) market, Polestar has announced plans to replace its current flagship model, the Polestar 2, with the Polestar 7.

Unlike the Volkswagen Golf’s strategy process, CEO Thomas Ingenlath revealed that the Polestar 7 will mark a departure from the conventional naming strategy, ensuring the company stays creative and versatile.

The Polestar 2, complimented for its advanced technology and Swedish-inspired luxury, has been vital in setting Polestar as a contender in the EV market since its debut in 2020. Nevertheless, Polestar will explore new avenues for growth and differentiation regarding its Polestar 2 model.

“Innovation is at the core of Polestar’s ethos. While the Polestar 2 has been a significant milestone for us, we believe it’s essential to constantly evolve and challenge conventions,” stated CEO Thomas Ingenlath.

Underpinning the Polestar 7 will likely be Geely Group’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) with an expected debut around 2027. Ingenlath also addressed recent developments regarding Polestar’s ownership structure, following Volvo’s reduction in its stake in the company.
