The Second Round Of Installations Come After The Success Of The First Round Installations Back In December 2023

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine recently announced that the state will award nearly $16 million to install 22 new electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging stations. These fast-charging stations will be installed along Ohio’s interstates, state routes, and United States (U.S.) routes.
The installation of new EV fast-charging stations is part of the second round of the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program, which supports the state’s dedication to developing robust EV infrastructure. Moreover, the NEVI program will aim for EV fast-charging stations to be available in every 50-mile radius.
Previously, Governor DeWine had announced the first round of EV charger locations back in July 2023, and the first NEVI station in the country was placed back in October 2023. Afterward, Ohio activated the country’s first NEVI charging stations back in December 2023 along I-70 at U.S. 42 in Madison County.

As for the second round of NEVI funding, it will support EV fast-chargers on I-270, I-275, I-675, I-680, I-71, I-76, I-77, SR 15, U.S. 23, U.S. 30, and U.S. 33 according to Governor DeWine. Dewine further expresses his enthusiasm for the new EV fast-charging stations in the state stating, “As more electric cars and trucks make their way to Ohio roadways, we’re continuing to build the infrastructure needed to enable easy and convenient travel.”
With this new second-round installation of fast-charging stations in Ohio, EV owners will have easier and more convenient pathways to locate and charge their EVs without any unnecessary bother. The construction for these fast-charging stations will start around late 2024 and continue into 2025.
