In the latest development within the electric vehicle (EV) industry, Mercedes-Benz is setting the stage for its entry-level lineup, offering a detailed first look at the 2025 CLA model.

At a recent test drive event at Mercedes-Benz’s Immendingen plant in Germany, CEO Ola Källenius provided an in-depth preview of the next-generation CLA.

“With the CLA, we are ushering in a new chapter at Mercedes-Benz,” Källenius stated. “We will substantially elevate every aspect of what our customers can expect from a Mercedes in this segment.”

Headlining the 2025 CLA’s feature set are its available powertrain choices, which include both a state-of-the-art electric drivetrain and a high-tech hybrid combustion engine variant. The electric CLA draws technology from Mercedes’ groundbreaking EQXX concept, blending performance and efficiency through the use of a bespoke two-speed electric transmission.

“The modular platform allows for maximum flexibility,” Källenius explained. “We can offer the CLA in both an electric drivetrain version and a hybrid electrified combustion engine version.”

Complementing the advanced powertrains is Mercedes’ new MB.OS operating system, making its debut in the 2025 CLA. This next-generation platform introduces the latest evolution of the brand’s AI-powered MBUX Virtual Assistant, aiming to provide drivers with a more natural, intuitive, and proactive in-car experience. As Källenius noted, “Our operating system, MB.OS, will make it the most intelligent car we’ve ever built.”

Visually, the 2025 CLA takes inspiration from the sleek Concept CLA Class, blending sporty and modern design elements. One standout feature is the distinctive headlight design, showcased for the first time during the preview event. The integration of the iconic Mercedes star logo directly into the lighting adds both aesthetic appeal and functional benefits in terms of visibility and glare reduction.

As the first model in an all-new family of Mercedes vehicles, the 2025 CLA represents a significant leap forward for the brand’s entry-level lineup. With its choice of advanced powertrain options, cutting-edge technology, and stylish new design, the CLA is set to redefine the premium compact sedan segment when it debuts in 2025.
