Lucid Motors is preparing to expand its lineup with a mid-size off-road SUV. Based on trademark filings, the new Lucid SUV is expected to carry the name “Earth” with a sub-$50,000 base price.

Lucid’s upcoming Earth SUV will be built on the company’s new mid-size platform and will be available in two trims. According to interim CEO Marc Winteroff, the rugged SUV will draw design cues from the automaker’s Gravity X concept and launch after the standard mid-size SUV enters production late next year.

Off-road SUV joins Lucid’s mid-size lineup

The all-electric Earth SUV will be part of a three-model family on Lucid’s new mid-size EV architecture, which also includes a sedan to rival the Tesla Model 3. According to Car and Driver, the Lucid Earth is inspired by the Gravity X.

The off-road version of Lucid’s new mid-size SUV will feature larger all-terrain tires, skid plates, tow hooks, a lifted stance, and a roof rack with integrated lights. Winteroff stated that production on the standard Lucid Earth SUV is scheduled to begin by the end of 2026. Shortly after, around 2027, Lucid might begin production on off-road Earth SUV.

Lucid outlines funding needs and production plans

Winteroff noted Lucid has sufficient funding into the second half of 2026, but additional financing will be required to ramp up full-scale production of the company’s new lineup.

“Our funding is enough to get us into the second half of next year,” he said. “We planned to do the [start of production] of the mid-size platform end of next year, and then we’re ramping up from there. So that tells you that additional funds will be needed to get there.”

All mid-size models, including the Earth SUV and the upcoming sedan, will be built at the company’s AMP-2 plant in Saudi Arabia. Lucid might release the sedan by late 2028, completing the trio. Lucid’s mid-size platform is also being evaluated for potential fleet applications, including Uber’s planned robotaxis following its $300 million investment in the EV maker.
