Lotus Opens Orders For Its Eletre In The U.S.

If you are looking for the Lotus Eletre SUV electric vehicle (EV), wait no further. Now, orders are wide open for buyers in the U.S. as the company has recently announced the arrival of its Eletre SUV for this year. 

Lotus first revealed its Eletre in March 2022 and since then, the company has been successful in its quest for being at the forefront of the EV industry, especially since it reported a robust revenue of $679 million for 2023. Lotus also recently established its new $1.2 billion EV factory in China, the deliveries of these Eletre models will start delivery in Q4 2024.

There are two trims that you can choose of the Eletre SUV available in the U.S., the first is the basic trim of the standard Eletre and the second is the performance-focused Eletre R. These two models from Lotus both possess a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive (AWD) with 800 Volt platform and 111.9 kWh battery capacity. Also, both trims can be charged from 10 to 80% in 20 minutes from a 350 kW DC fast charger.  

In terms of the differences, the standard Eletre has 603 hp with 254 lb-ft of torque and an acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 160 mph as well as 304 to 354 miles of range. As for the performance-focused Eletre R, it comes with 905 hp with 727 lb-ft of torque and an acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 2.95 seconds with a top speed of 165 mph as well as 254-280 miles of range. 

In regards to price, the Eletre will start at $107,000 and the Eletre R will start at $145,000, which is a $38,000 difference. Although the price may be costly, the top-notch specs and the luxurious features along with the high performance, may be worth mulling over these options. 

As Lotus is expanding and upgrading its EV lineup, the company is also making its transition to full-on electric mobility by 2028.
