In a bold move that signals Kia’s growing presence in the high-performance electric vehicle (EV) market, the company has scheduled the European debut of its most powerful SUV, the EV9 GT, in 2025.

Within the EV9 GT lies a dual-motor powertrain generating 508 horsepower, enabling this family SUV to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. This remarkable performance is built upon Kia’s advanced E-GMP 800V platform, which delivers both power and efficiency, offering a range exceeding 450 km (around 279 miles) on a single charge of its 99.8 kWh battery.

In addition, the EV9 GT introduces Kia’s first-ever Road Preview System, working in concert with Electronically Controlled Suspension to analyze road conditions in real time. This advanced system can detect obstacles such as potholes, and automatically adjust suspension settings to maintain ride comfort and stability. An electronic Limited Slip Differential further enhances the driving experience by optimizing torque distribution during cornering.

Sports-Inspired Interior Design

Inside the cabin, the EV9 GT distinguishes itself with a premium sports-oriented design. Distinctive neon green accents highlight the GT-exclusive steering wheel and Alcantara suede sport seats, while dark grey and black faux leather create an atmosphere of sophisticated performance.

Moreover, the EV’s technology suite includes a triple panorama display and an innovative Virtual Gear Shift system that simulates traditional transmission shifts, complete with paddle shifters and corresponding sound effects through the Active Sound Design feature.

Family-Friendly and Practical

The EV9 GT maintains its family-friendly credentials with seating for seven and a substantial 2,500 kg towing capacity. The vehicle’s 800V charging architecture enables rapid charging from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes, while Vehicle-to-Load capabilities allow it to power external devices.

Furthermore, the EV9 GT offers drivers unprecedented control through multiple driving modes, including Normal, Eco, Sport, My Drive, Terrain, and Snow, with a dedicated GT mode activated by a neon green steering wheel button for maximum performance. The EV’s connectivity features are equally impressive, with over-the-air updates and the Kia Connect app enabling remote climate control and battery conditioning.

Notably, the EV9 GT represents a major milestone in Kia’s electrification strategy, which aims to introduce 15 electric models by 2027 and achieve a fully electric lineup in Europe by 2035. According to Marc Hedrich, President and CEO at Kia Europe, “The EV9 GT offers an exhilarating-to-drive factor with comfort and enjoyment for everyone on board while keeping the versatility to take everything with you.”

While pricing details for the United Kingdom (UK) market will be announced closer to the launch date, the EV9 GT’s combination of performance, technology, and practicality positions it as a compelling option in the growing premium electric SUV segment as it makes its debut in 2025.
