The Upcoming Jeep Compass EV Model Will Be Built On Stellantis’ STLA Medium Platform With Production Aimed For 2025

In the unveiling of a new addition to the electric vehicle (EV) market, Jeep has officially announced that its globally popular Compass model will be available in a full electric powertrain.
According to Stellantis, Jeep released the first design sketch of the next-generation Compass, showcasing an evolution of the brand’s styling that maintains Jeep’s distinctive identity while embracing a more aerodynamic future.
The new electric Compass will be built on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform. This platform promises notable range capabilities, with the Performance pack targeting over 700 km (435 miles) on the WLTP cycle. In comparison, the Standard pack aims for more than 500 km (310 miles). The electric variant will be the only version of the new Compass to offer four-wheel drive, maintaining Jeep’s off-road heritage in its electric future.
The new Compass’s design represents an evolution of the styling theme introduced with the Avenger, featuring sleek lines and square proportions with a revised interpretation of Jeep’s iconic grille. In addition, Ralph Gilles, Stellantis’ chief design officer for North American brands noted that the design was a collaborative effort between Jeep’s main U.S. design studio and the European team in Turin.
Production of the next-generation Compass will begin in Melfi, Italy, in 2025, offering three electrified powertrains: full-electric, plug-in hybrid, and 48-volt mild hybrid. Furthermore, the production will expand to North America and other global markets in 2026, reinforcing the Compass’s position as Jeep’s most internationally available model.
In detail, the Compass continues to show strong market performance, with U.S. sales up 18% through September 2024, delivering 84,474 units. As part of Jeep’s “Freedom of Choice” strategy, the new Compass will play a crucial role in the brand’s electrification journey, positioned above the entry-level Avenger in Europe and below the upcoming Wagoneer S and Recon EV models.
With the official unveiling of the electric Compass expected next month, this latest unveiling from Jeep marks another milestone in the company’s ambitious electrification strategy and brand revitalization efforts.
