Hyundai’s success extended beyond the KONA Electric. Notably, the IONIQ 6 ranked second in its mass-market EV category. Other notable EV winners in the awards included Tesla’s Model 3, the Dodge Charger Daytona, and GMC’s Hummer EV models (both SUV and SUT variants).

Olabisi Boyle, senior vice president of product planning and mobility strategy at Hyundai Motor North America, emphasized the significance of the award stating, “At a time when affordability and low cost of ownership matter more than ever, this J.D. Power Residual Value Award underscores our commitment to delivering high-quality, desirable vehicles that meet the needs of our customers.”

Residual Value Importance

The J.D. Power ALG Residual Value Awards are crucial for buyers, as they highlight vehicles projected to retain the highest percentage of their original manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) over three years. This metric is particularly important in today’s market, where new and used vehicle prices continue to rise.

Hyundai’s strong performance reflects its strategic focus on creating vehicles that offer not just immediate appeal, but long-term value. The KONA Electric, in particular, was praised for its blend of style, performance, and potential cost savings, making it an attractive option for buyers looking to invest in electric mobility.

With increasing emphasis on EVs and total ownership costs, Hyundai’s recognition in the J.D. Power Residual Value Awards demonstrates the brand’s ability to deliver competitive, forward-thinking vehicles that meet the changing needs of modern buyers.
