Hyundai has launched the China-tailored Ioniq V electric sedan with a limited-time starting price of 99,900 yuan ($14,820).

Developed specifically for Chinese customers by Hyundai’s China design team, the mid-size sedan offers up to 650 km (404 miles) of CLTC range, 800-volt fast charging, CATL batteries and an L2+ driver-assistance system developed with Momenta.

New entry version cuts launch price by 20,000 yuan

The Ioniq V went on sale in China with five variants priced from 99,900 yuan to 131,900 yuan for a limited time. Official retail prices range from 109,900 yuan to 139,900 yuan, with launch discounts of 8,000 or 10,000 yuan depending on the version.

The sedan previously opened for pre-sales at the Chengdu Auto Show in August with three variants priced from 119,900 yuan to 139,900 yuan. Hyundai has now added the entry-level 540 Pro and long-range 650 Max versions, according to CNEV Post.

The new entry-level model and launch discounts reduce the Ioniq V’s starting price by 20,000 yuan compared with its pre-sale starting price.

The Ioniq V is the production version of the Venus Concept shown at the Beijing Auto Show in April. It features a fastback design and frameless doors, measuring 4,900 mm (192.9 inches) long, 1,890 mm (74.4 inches) wide and 1,470 mm (57.9 inches) tall, with a 2,900-mm (114.2-inch) wheelbase.

CATL batteries and Momenta driver assistance

Built on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, the Ioniq V uses single-motor powertrains producing either 140 kW (188 hp) or 168 kW. The sedan supports 800-volt fast charging and is available with 53.48-kWh or 66.85-kWh LFP batteries supplied by CATL.

Depending on the battery configuration, the Ioniq V offers 540 km (336 miles) or 650 km (404 miles) of CLTC range.

The cabin features a 27-inch 4K display powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip, along with an available head-up display. Its infotainment system integrates Baidu’s Ernie Bot and ByteDance’s Doubao AI models and supports four-zone independent voice control, continuous dialogue and multiple commands.

For driver assistance, the Ioniq V uses an L2+ system developed with Chinese technology company Momenta. Features include highway navigation assistance, urban memory navigation assistance and parking assistance.

Beijing Hyundai is also offering a lifetime vehicle warranty as part of the launch benefits, along with battery replacement for degradation and compensation for spontaneous battery fires, subject to specified time and mileage limits.

The Ioniq V is the first production model since Hyundai introduced the Ioniq brand in China this year. Hyundai has said it plans to launch 20 BEV and EREV models in China over the next five years.
