Hyundai Reveals 2025 IONIQ 5 With Extended Range And Starting Price At $43,975

Hyundai has officially unveiled the pricing, driving range, and charging times for the upgraded 2025 IONIQ 5 eletric vehicle (EV), featuring increased battery capacity, longer driving range, and the addition of a Tesla-compatible NACS charging port.

According to Hyundai, the refreshed IONIQ 5, which will be manufactured at Hyundai’s new Metaplant America plant in Georgia, starts at $43,975 including destination charges. Moreover, the 2025 model introduces significant improvements across the lineup. The standard range battery capacity has been increased to 63 kWh (up from 58 kWh), while long-range models now feature an 84 kWh battery (up from 77.4 kWh).

The 2024 model lineup offers notable range and performance upgrades across various trims. Starting off, the SE RWD Standard Range provides 245 miles of range and 168 horsepower, starting at $42,500. The SE RWD trim offers a longer range of 318 miles and 225 horsepower, with a starting price of $46,550.

The SEL RWD also features 318 miles of range and 225 horsepower, starting at $49,500. The Limited RWD trim maintains the same 318-mile range and 225 horsepower, with a starting price of $54,200. For those seeking all-wheel drive, the SE Dual Motor AWD delivers 290 miles of range and 320 horsepower, starting at $50,050.

The SEL Dual Motor AWD provides the same range and horsepower as the SE Dual Motor, but with a higher starting price of $53,000. The XRT Dual Motor AWD offers 259 miles of range and 320 horsepower, starting at $55,400. Finally, the Limited Dual Motor AWD provides 269 miles of range and 320 horsepower, with a starting price of $58,100.

“The native NACS port and newly extended driving range of the 2025 IONIQ 5 will make the ownership experience and road trips more convenient and enjoyable for our customers,” stated Olabisi Boyle, senior vice president of product planning and mobility strategy at Hyundai Motor North America.

Updated Interior and Charging Options

The 2025 IONIQ 5 comes with both a NACS port and CCS adapter as standard, giving owners access to over 36,000 DC fast chargers nationwide – more than double the charging locations available to current owners. On a 350-kW charger, the vehicle can charge from 10-80% in about 20 minutes.

Interior updates include redesigned HVAC controls, a new center console with physical seat controls, and a new steering wheel design. The infotainment system features a 12.3-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.

New XRT Trim for Off-Road Adventure

A notable addition to the lineup is the new adventure-focused XRT trim, starting at $56,875. This model features increased ground clearance (7.0 inches vs. 6.1 inches standard), all-terrain tires, and a special Terrain Mode with Snow, Sand, and Mud settings. The XRT trim also includes distinctive styling elements such as unique front and rear fascias and black 18-inch alloy wheels.

Tax Credits and Buyer Incentives

All U.S.-built IONIQ 5 models qualify for a $3,750 federal tax credit for purchases, while lease customers can access the full $7,500 incentive. The complete lineup ranges from the base SE RWD Standard Range model at $43,975 to the range-topping Limited AWD at $58,100.

With the refreshed IONIQ 5 expected to arrive at dealerships by the end of 2024, it is building on the success of the current model, which has helped drive Hyundai to record-breaking EV sales in recent months.
