General Motors will debut its new OnStar AI Assistant in the 2027 Cadillac Lyriq, turning the brand’s telematics platform into a proactive in-cabin digital concierge.
Designed to replace the earlier Google-backed Gemini voice setup, the cloud-connected platform links live vehicle telemetry with the OnStar mobile app and GM Fleet.
Arriving one year after GM first previewed a Google-partnered Gemini assistant, the new OnStar AI Assistant uses real-time vehicle data and connected services to handle hands-free climate adjustments, personalized prompts and automated incident video saves through Connected Cameras.
To address driver privacy concerns following past criticism over vehicle data sharing, GM says owners will have clear settings showing exactly what information each AI feature uses, why it is needed and when it runs, according to GM Authority.
GM also emphasized that drivers retain full control over permission toggles and that the automaker cannot view footage captured by the vehicle’s Connected Cameras.

Alongside the software upgrade, the 2027 Cadillac Lyriq transitions from a Combined Charging System (CCS) inlet to a factory-installed North American Charging Standard (NACS) port as part of GM’s broader portfolio shift.
Rounding out the 2027 model-year changes are revised exterior paint choices, updated cabin trim combinations and a modest bump in starting MSRP.
