Genesis entered the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed with a bold showing of its GV60 Magma Concept electric vehicle (EV), where the company is set to enter production in Q3 2025.

In detail, the GV60 Magma Concept is the first model in Genesis’ new high-performance Magma subbrand and will closely resemble the concept with only the necessary modifications to comply with local regulations according to Genesis.

The GV60 Magma Concept demonstrates major updates over the standard GV60, which is Genesis’ first dedicated EV launched in 2021. These updates include improved battery and electric motor technology, fine-tuned chassis, aerodynamics, and thermodynamics. The EV also arrives in a wider and lower stance for improved stability and a more dynamic driving experience.

Genesis also aims to embody three fundamental attributes in its Magma EVs: “Unspoken Dominance,” “Captivating Control,” and “Sharpened Immersion.” These principles are reflected in the GV60 Magma’s design and performance improvements.

Interstingly, the Goodwood Festival of Speed also saw the global debut of the G80 EV Magma Concept. Both concepts were showcased alongside the G70 Track Taxi Nordschleife and the GV80 Coupe Concept.

Furthermore, the debut of the GV60 Magma at Goodwood, led by six-time Le Mans winner and Genesis Brand Partner Jacky Ickx, highlighted the company’s sporting aspirations.

Genesis Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke expressed the significance of the Genesis EV Concepts making their debut at the festival stating, “The festival’s storied legacy and enthusiastic audience provide an ideal platform to showcase the capabilities of our new Magma program and highlight our strong commitment to high performance. We invite all attendees to immerse themselves in the full Genesis experience and witness the dynamic energy and power of Genesis Magma.” 

With its striking design, improved performance, and advanced EV technology, the GV60 Magma is set to challenge established automakers in the high-performance EV market. The GV60 Magma is scheduled to launch in Korea during Q3 2025, followed by a European launch in Q4.
