EVgo has announced significant enhancements to its nationwide electric vehicle (EV) charging network through its EVgo ReNew program. These improvements aim to elevate the customer experience, boost reliability, and strengthen EVgo’s position as a top choice in EV charging.

According to EVgo, there are several key advancements including:

  • Network Expansion: EVgo has upgraded or replaced equipment at over 500 charging stalls across more than 20 states since early 2022. Plans are in place to upgrade up to 150 additional stalls in 2024.
  • High-Power Charging: The number of 350kW charging stalls has increased by over 115% in the past year, significantly reducing charging times for compatible vehicles.
  • Larger Stations: EVgo has expanded its capacity, with an 80% increase in stations capable of serving six or more vehicles simultaneously. The company is also identifying locations that can accommodate up to 10 vehicles at once.
  • Canary Model: This new automated performance monitoring tool uses data from actual charging sessions to expedite diagnostics and maintenance, reducing downtime and improving customer satisfaction.
  • Improved Connectivity: Upgraded antennae have cut internet connectivity downtime by almost half in the first two quarters of this year.
  • Enhanced Customer Support: New on-screen assistance features and expanded language support, including Spanish-speaking representatives, have led to fewer calls for help during charging sessions.

Dennis Kish, President of EVgo, emphasized the importance of these upgrades stating, “As the EV industry expands from early adopters to mass market consumers, EVgo’s commitment to delivering a best-in-class charging experience is more important than ever.”

Moreover, EVgo’s ReNew program focuses on six pillars: Resilience, Prevention, Diagnostics, Rapid Response, Analysis, and Continuous Customer Service. According to EVgo, the company’s notable achievements include a 67% reduction in mean time to repair chargers since Q1 2023 and a 200% increase in sessions initiated through Autocharge+ in Q2 2024 compared to Q2 2023.
