EVgo and Regency Centers recently announced the opening of a new fast-charging station at Blakeney Town Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. This latest addition brings a major milestone in their partnership, which expands their footprint to over 120 charging stalls across the United States (U.S.).

In detail, the new charging station will be placed at 9870 Rea Rd. This is strategically positioned near Interstate 485, providing convenient access for EV owners along with various shopping and dining options. Moreover, this location is part of a broader initiative between EVgo and Regency Centers, which started their partnership in 2020.

In terms of the charging station in Charlotte, it was built with funding support from the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality and as part of EVgo’s partnership with General Motors (GM). Notably, this represents the seventh site opened by EVgo and Regency Centers in major metropolitan areas across North Carolina, including Charlotte, Durham, and Raleigh.

Both companies have further plans for more expansion with over 20 new fast-charging stalls scheduled to open in 2025 including locations in Maryland, Massachusetts, and Texas. All new charging stations will possess at least one high-power 350kW fast charger capable of simultaneously charging two EVs. As of now, the partnership between EVgo and Regency Centers spans around 40 Regency properties across 10 U.S. states.

Marcy Bauer, Senior Vice President of Deployment at EVgo, expressed the successful milestone of the partnership with Regency Centers stating, “The opening of our latest station in Charlotte is yet another success story in our longstanding relationship with Regency, and we look forward to building additional charging stations through the partnership over the coming years.”

As the demand for EVs increase, the need for more charging infrastructure will be necessary. As a result, this partnership contributes in developing the necessary U.S. charging infrastructure for all EV owners. By providing convenient and reliable fast charging options from EVgo and Regency Centers, the transition to electric mobility is further accelerated with more availability of charging stations in easily accessible locations.
