Stellantis’ brand DS Automobiles has revealed its most ambitious electric vehicle (EV) to date, the DS N°8. Set to launch in mid-2025, this flagship SUV coupé aims to redefine electric luxury with EV technology and impressive performance.

According to Stellantis, the N°8 contains a striking exterior design that prioritizes both aesthetics and efficiency. Measuring 4.82 meters long, the vehicle features a sleek, tapered profile with an exceptional drag coefficient of just 0.24, contributing to its remarkable range.

Moreover, unique design elements include an illuminated ‘DS Luminascreen’ grille, narrow headlights with eight LEDs, and a distinctive vertical light signature that makes the EV model instantly recognizable.

Powertrain and Range

The new electric SUV offers three distinct powertrain configurations to cater to a variety of driving needs. The base model features a 230 horsepower front-wheel-drive system powered by a 74 kWh battery. For those seeking extended range, a 245-horsepower front-wheel-drive version comes equipped with a larger 97.2 kWh battery. At the top of the lineup is the 350-horsepower all-wheel-drive variant, also utilizing the 97.2 kWh battery, delivering a compelling mix of power and efficiency. 

Notably, the most exceptional version contains a WLTP range of up to 750 km (around 466 miles), with more than 500 km (around 310 miles) achievable on the motorway. For performance enthusiasts, the AWD model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds.

Charging and Technology

Charging capabilities are designed to minimize downtime. The SUV supports a maximum charging speed of 160 kW, enabling a 20% to 80% charge in just 27 minutes. Drivers can recover 200 km of range in as little as 10 minutes. An optional 22 kW AC charging upgrade is available, supplementing the standard 11 kW setup.

On the technology front, the EV model debuts the DS IRIS SYSTEM 2.0, featuring integrated ChatGPT for an advanced in-car experience. This system offers enhanced voice recognition capable of identifying individual passengers and tailoring responses accordingly, ensuring a more personalized and interactive journey.

Interior and Comfort

The N°8’s interior highlights the “French Art of Travel,” a concept championed by DS, blending elegance, comfort, and sustainability. It contains a 16-inch central touchscreen, customizable ambient lighting, and distinctive interior color options such as “Eternal Blue.” Upholstery choices include Nappa leather and Alcantara, crafted with sustainable materials. Enhancing the auditory experience is a 14-speaker FOCAL Electra 3D Hi-Fi system. 

In addition, comfort features include massaging, heated, and cooled seats, a panoramic glass roof, and the innovative DS NECK WARMER that provides targeted thermal comfort.

Safety and Driver Assistance

The N°8 is equipped with advanced safety and driver assistance features designed to enhance confidence and security on the road. Key systems include DS Drive Assist 2.0, offering semi-autonomous capabilities such as active lane-changing support, and Active Lane Change Assist for smoother, safer maneuvers.

The EV model also features Night Vision technology, utilizing infrared to detect pedestrians in low-visibility conditions, and a Wrong Pedal Prevention system to mitigate accidents caused by pedal misapplication. These innovations work together to provide a comprehensive and intelligent driving experience.

While exact pricing remains undisclosed, DS will open order books in early 2025, with a market launch planned for mid-2025. The vehicle represents a significant step in DS Automobiles’ goal to electric mobility, with all components -from battery cells to electric motors – manufactured in France.
