General Motors has issued a new service bulletin covering the Chevy Silverado EV and several other electric trucks, announcing a battery system software update aimed at improving diagnostic performance and reliability.

The update, tagged N252516700, applies to 2024–2025 Silverado EVs and enhances how the truck’s high-voltage battery system detects and manages potential moisture inside its energy storage enclosure.

Update targets battery moisture detection and diagnostic accuracy

According to GM, the update refines the Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) software to better identify moisture-related conditions before they affect battery performance or safety. Specifically, it adjusts the thresholds for triggering Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) P0AA6 and U395E, which are codes linked to insulation and voltage issues that may appear after the vehicle’s first sleep cycle post-update, according to GM Authority.

Technicians are advised to refer to Technical Bulletin 23-NA-151 if either code is triggered. The update, which requires no replacement parts, can be installed during a standard service visit or delivered wirelessly through an over-the-air (OTA) update. GM estimates labor times at just 0.2 hours for verification and 0.3 hours for reprogramming, highlighting the quick and software-focused nature of the fix.

Campaign extends to other GM electric trucks

The service campaign also covers the GMC Hummer EV and upcoming GMC Sierra EV, which share the same BT1 electric platform as the Silverado EV. All Silverado EV units are built at GM’s Factory Zero facility in Michigan, where the company has centralized its large-format electric truck production.

Dealers must confirm each vehicle’s eligibility in GM’s Global Warranty Management system before performing the update. The campaign will remain active until October 31, 2027, giving owners ample time to receive the improved software either at dealerships or via OTA deployment.
