Chevy Blazer EV Lures Record Number of New Buyers to the Brand

The Chevrolet Blazer EV is turning into one of General Motors’ biggest success stories, attracting more first-time Chevy buyers than any other vehicle in the lineup. According to recent reports, the electric midsize crossover now boasts a 57 percent conquest rate, which means more than half of its owners switched from rival automakers, up sharply from 40 percent just three months ago.

Chevy’s leadership says the brand’s growing electric lineup is transforming its customer base nationwide. “We saw it with Bolt, where in California it really helped the brand,” said Scott Bell, GM’s Vice President of Global Chevrolet. “Word of mouth really matters, and we’ve seen it now coast to coast. Fifty to sixty percent of our EV sales are to people new to the Chevy brand.”

Bell added that dealers have shifted focus from converting existing gas customers to winning over buyers already interested in EVs, a strategy paying off as Chevy becomes a top choice for first-time electric adopters, according to GM Authority.

“Two years ago, we told dealers that they shouldn’t be trying to convince someone who bought a gas-powered Equinox to buy an EV. There are plenty of people who want to buy EVs, and Chevrolet should be in their consideration set,” he said.

Equinox EV and upcoming Bolt push Chevy toward wider EV leadership

The Chevy Equinox EV recently became the top-selling non-Tesla EV in the U.S., helping Chevrolet rise from seventh to second place in overall EV market share. Next in line is the all-new 2027 Chevy Bolt, designed to keep the momentum going with an under-$30,000 starting price and a 255-mile range per charge.
