In the ever-evolving world of electric vehicle (EV) innovation, Chevrolet has just upped the ante with the introduction of a unique new feature for the 2025 Silverado EV RST: Sidewinder.

Chevy’s Four-Wheel Steering Technology

Sidewinder is Chevrolet’s take on the increasingly popular four-wheel steering technology in select EV models. In detail, this capability allows all four wheels to turn in the same direction, enabling the truck to move diagonally at speeds up to 20 mph.

“Sidewinder gives drivers a new way to conquer everything from rugged terrain to tight parking spaces,” Chevrolet stated on the feature. Activated through the Silverado EV’s infotainment system, Sidewinder mode even triggers a distinctive animation on the dashboard to alert the driver and “set the mood” for this dynamic new driving experience.

Expanding Silverado EV Options

The 2025 Silverado EV RST joins Chevy’s expanding EV lineup, which currently includes the fleet-focused WT and LT trims. The RST model offers two different battery pack options, with a maximum estimated range of up to 460 miles on a single charge.

In addition to the introduction of Sidewinder, the 2025 Silverado EV will also see the addition of a midrange LT trim, three battery pack options, and an increased maximum range estimate of 492 miles. Chevy is also expected to introduce a rugged Trail Boss variant at some point, potentially with Sidewinder capability as a standard feature.

As EV adoption continues to rise, with global sales projected to reach 17 million units by the end of 2024, automakers are increasingly focused on delivering innovative features that cater to the unique needs of EV drivers. Chevrolet’s Sidewinder technology represents the latest evolution in this space, offering Silverado EV owners a new level of maneuverability and versatility.
