The recall affects more than 22,000 vehicles in total, with nearly 3,700 Cadillac Optiq units impacted.

General Motors has issued a safety recall affecting select 2025–2026 Cadillac Optiq and Chevrolet Equinox EV models due to potentially defective Continental tires.
The issue involves Continental CrossContact RX 275/40R21 tires that may experience partial or full tread detachment, creating a crash risk. The recall affects more than 22,000 vehicles in total, with nearly 3,700 Cadillac Optiq units impacted.
The recall stems from a manufacturing issue with Continental tires produced during the week of October 6, 2024 (DOT week 4024). According to Continental Tire the Americas, a nonconforming tread base rubber compound could lead to tread separation. GM has instructed certified technicians to inspect affected Optiqs for these date codes and replace any matching tires immediately at no cost to owners.
These Continental CrossContact RX tires, marked with GM’s RPO code QLT, are available on 2025 Optiq Luxury and Sport trims and the upcoming 2026 Optiq Premium Luxury, Premium Sport, and high-performance Optiq-V models, according to GM Authority. The same tires were also fitted to 2025–2026 Chevrolet Equinox EVs, broadening the scope of the recall considerably.

Dealers were first alerted to the recall on October 16, 2025, while customer notifications are expected to begin December 1. Owners are encouraged to check the four-digit DOT date code on their tires, “4024” indicates they’re affected. Replacement tires will be installed free of charge under GM recall number N252525030.
