BYD ATTO 2 Enters Europe’s B-Segment SUV Market With Advanced Tech, Sleek Design, And A Starting Price Of €31,990

BYD has officially launched its latest electric vehicle (EV), the ATTO 2, in the European market. The compact electric SUV, known as the Yuan Up in China, is BYD’s ninth model offered in Europe and enters a highly competitive B-segment SUV market.

The ATTO 2 demonstrates BYD’s advanced technology, featuring the company’s proprietary Blade Battery technology and e-Platform 3.0 vehicle architecture. With dimensions of 4,310 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, the vehicle is specifically designed to navigate European urban environments while offering generous interior space. The wheelbase of 2,620 mm enables a spacious cargo capacity of up to 1,340 liters with the rear seats folded.
As for performance, the ATTO 2 is equipped with a front-mounted electric motor delivering 130 kW (174 horsepower) of power and 290 Nm of torque, allowing for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. The 45.12 kWh LFP battery provides a WLTP-rated range of 312 km, with an extended city range of 463 km. In terms of charging capabilities, the ATTO 2 includes 65 kW DCfast charging, enabling a 10% to 80% charge in 37 minutes.

BYD is offering the Atto 2 in two trim levels: Active and Boost. The base Active trim includes 17-inch wheels, leather seats, a 10.1-inch rotating screen, and essential safety features. The higher-spec Boost trim adds premium features such as a larger 12.8-inch screen, heated steering wheel and seats, ambient lighting, and a comprehensive surround-view camera system. Both versions arrive with an 8.8-inch driver display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a panoramic sunroof.
The European market entry comes with competitive pricing, starting at €31,990 (around $33,065), positioning it against established competitors like the Peugeot e-2008, Citroen e-C3, and the popular Volvo EX30. The pricing strategy reflects BYD’s success in China, where the vehicle (sold as the Yuan Up) has achieved significant sales, with over 130,000 units sold in 2024 at prices starting from RMB 96,800 (around $13,280).

Stella Li, BYD’s executive vice president, emphasized the strategic importance of the B-SUV segment in Europe during the launch press conference underlining that the compact design of the Atto 2 is perfectly suited for European streets and the company anticipates strong interest from potential customers in this market segment.

With the launch of the ATTO 2, it aims to strengthen BYD’s growing European portfolio, which now includes eight battery-EVs (BEVs) and one plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model. As a result, this expansion shows BYD’s goal of establishing a strong presence in the European EV market, where it will compete with both traditional automakers and newer EV automakers.
