BYD Integrates Advanced ADAS Technology Across Its Entire Lineup, Offering Cutting-Edge Smart Driving Features In Vehicles Starting As Low As $9,550
In a bold move that could reshape the automotive industry’s approach to advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), BYD, the world’s largest electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has announced the integration of its “God’s Eye” smart driving system across its entire vehicle lineup—at no additional cost to consumers.
During a landmark vehicle intelligence event, BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu emphasized the company’s aim of making advanced technology accessible to all consumers. “Good technology should be available to everyone,” Chuanfu stated, predicting that high-level smart driving capabilities will become as essential as seatbelts and airbags within the next two to three years.
The initiative symbolizes a substantial departure from industry norms, where smart driving features typically command premium prices. For context, comparable systems are usually found in vehicles priced above RMB 200,000 ($28,000), such as Tesla’s Model 3, which starts at RMB 235,500 ($32,000) in China.
BYD’s God’s Eye system comes in three distinct tiers, each tailored to different market segments. The entry-level “God’s Eye C” system, designed for BYD-branded vehicles, incorporates 12 cameras, five millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic radars, powered by the DiPilot 100 computing system. The mid-tier “God’s Eye B” adds LiDAR technology for premium models, while the top-tier “God’s Eye A” features three LiDAR sensors and the powerful DiPilot 600 system, reserved for the luxury Yangwang brand.
In addition, the value of this announcement lies in its scope: 21 models across BYD’s portfolio will receive smart driving capabilities, including the company’s most affordable offering, the Seagull, which starts at just 69,800 yuan ($9,550). This represents the first time such advanced technology has been made available in vehicles at this price point.
Moreover, the technology’s capabilities are exceptional. The system includes features like automated parking, adaptive cruise control, and advanced braking assistance. Even the entry-level God’s Eye C system boasts sophisticated hardware, including front-view cameras with a 300-meter detection range and ultrasonic radar sensors with parking accuracy of 2 centimeters.
BYD’s dedication to this technology is backed by substantial resources. The company employs 110,000 engineers, with 5,000 dedicated specifically to intelligent driving research and development. Their system processes data from 72 million km of daily training mileage, contributing to continuous improvement through real-world experience.
The rollout encompasses both BYD’s Ocean and Dynasty vehicle lines, with models ranging from the affordable Seagull to the premium Han EV. All vehicles will feature the Xuanji architecture, which integrates central processing, cloud AI, vehicle-side AI, and various network capabilities. Additionally, BYD announced plans to integrate DeepSeek AI software to enhance the system’s capabilities further.
Furthermore, this aggressive move comes as BYD continues to dominate the EV market, having sold over 4 million cars last year. The company has pledged to invest RMB 100 billion in developing advanced technology, demonstrating its commitment to maintaining its competitive edge in the rapidly evolving automotive landscape.
By making advanced driver assistance technology standard across its lineup, BYD is not only challenging competitors but potentially accelerating the industry-wide adoption of these safety features. As Wang Chuanfu noted, this marks the beginning of “the first year of intelligent driving for everybody,” potentially setting a new standard for what consumers can expect from even entry-level vehicles.
