The EV will also feature an 800-volt electrical architecture, contributing to a projected 30% improvement in charging speed compared to current BMW EVs. Additionally, the new platform will offer up to a 30% increase in driving range, further enhancing the vehicle’s overall efficiency and practicality.

Production and Market Strategy

BMW’s approach to its EV strategy is methodical and well-planned. Pre-production of the first Neue Klasse SUV is set to begin in Hungary by the end of 2024. Full-scale production of customer vehicles is expected to start in late 2025, with the Munich plant following soon after. BMW also plans to expand production capabilities, with a new production plant in Mexico aimed to begin operations in 2027.

Naming and Positioning

While the exact name remains uncertain, industry speculation points to “iM3” or “i3M” as the most likely designations. This reflects BMW’s ongoing strategy of repurposing model names in its electric lineup.
